Sizzling summer in the garden - Middle Temple pop-up barbecue opens for July

As our sensational summer rolls on and on, Londoners are spilling out of the office looking for a small piece of the great outdoors where they can soak up some rays and eat lunch.


Middle Temple has launched a new barbecue pop-up venture which is situated in its award-winning garden - a secluded and tranquil setting with a dramatic backdrop of ancient and historical buildings that ooze centuries of history, nestled on the banks of the Thames.

Open to members of the Inn and the general public, the barbecue offerings will change each day, and will feature a wide range of dishes created by the Hall’s executive head chef, Jordan Andrews.

Weather permitting, the barbecue will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout July, from 12.30pm to 2.00pm.

  • Portuguese style grilled chicken thighs, piri piri sauce

  • Herb and garlic marinated grilled leg of lamb
  • Smoked coffee rubbed beef brisket
  • Grilled pork chop, lemon, herb and garlic
  • Lamb and rosemary sausages, BBQ onions, brioche buns
  • Grilled marinated octopus, coffee dressing
  • Grilled swordfish steaks, salsa verde
  • BBQ mackerel, chili and tomato chutney
  • Hake fillet, baked with tomato, fennel and lemon
  • Teriyaki glazed ocean trout, spring onion
  • Garlic and rosemary grilled Portobello mushroom, basil pesto, marinated feta
  • Spiced chickpea burger, mint and sesame yoghurt
  • BBQ halloumi, tomato and artichoke
  • Smoked and grilled marinated aubergine
  • Sun blush tomato and goats cheese barbequed polenta
  • Grilled flat bread
  • Rainbow coleslaw, pineapple, raisins
  • Heritage potato salad, spring onion, egg, seeded mustard dressing
  • Super grains, tomato, avocado, pumpkin seed
  • Watermelon, mint, onion seed
  • Mexican corn and tortilla, lime and coriander
